“I don’t normally do reviews, well, not good ones anyway, but on this occasion I will.
Having neglected my teeth for over 7 years due to circumstances beyond my control, covid being one of them, so I bit the bullet and went to see my dentist (Heidi) and the outcome was not good as expected, I needed 6 teeth removed, yep that’s going to hurt a little, but then I remembered that Buckden dental clinic offer sedation, so I mentioned this to the dentist, who said “if you have sedation I can do all 6 in one appointment”, wow, I thought, that sounds like fun.
Sedation is done by Georgina, so following a medical review, we agreed that sedation was a good option, to which I agreed. The day of my appointment arrived, and to be honest, all I can remember …. is my wife standing over me, saying I’m taking you home now. If you are a nervous patient and have to have some major dental work done, trust me, sedation is the way to go.
I can’t thank the staff at Buckden dental surgery enough for all their kindness and understanding.”
“I had the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist at Buckden Dental Clinic. The staff are all wonderful, from the receptionists to the nurses and dentists.
I’m usually a very anxious person at the dentist. I’ve had bad experiences before and had left going to the dentist far longer than I should. I’m also, regretfully, a smoker, which can feel embarrassing and shameful when speaking to dentists and hygienists.
I explained my worries to Georgiana (the hygienist) and Juliette, who were both so kind. I felt quite emotional, and this was met with such kindness and reassurance. I felt no judgment and was put so at ease. I was given stress balls to squeeze, though I hardly needed them as the treatment was so careful and gentle. If I felt any discomfort, it was immediately acknowledged, and I was made more comfortable. I left feeling happier with my teeth than I have felt in years and can confidently smile again. When I returned for my next appointment, I didn’t feel any anxiety. I don’t think I’ve ever so happily gone to a dental appointment. I can’t speak highly enough of the wonderful treatment I received here. Particularly with the absolutely lovely Georgiana, who seemed genuinely delighted to see my happiness with my teeth and gave me a lovely hug when I left.
Thanks”
“We were recommended Buckden Dental Clinic and are so glad we were.
We recently joined Buckden Dental Clinic after moving to the area and being unable to find any NHS dentists taking patients on. Previous dentists had also left me with some bad experiences, so I was keen to find a well-recommended dental practice. We were recommended Buckden Dental Clinic and are so glad we were. They offer Denplan here, which we find helpful to help us budget everything better, and we were able to get this up and running fairly quickly.
From day one, everyone has been so professional and friendly. The ladies on reception are always so cheerful and helpful, and have been great at arranging all our appointments on time. Our dentist Kam has been amazing. After some previous bad experiences with dentists, it has been so reassuring to have such a kind and attentive dentist. Our young son has also been seen with Kam, and she was brilliant with him. He was understandably nervous as he had not really been to a dentist much due to COVID-19 restrictions, but Kam set him at ease straight away and was so great with him. After we left, he wouldn’t stop talking about how “amazing it was going to the dentist”. My only regret is not joining here sooner!”
“I have the utmost confidence that any dental work advised by Kam.
I have been a patient of Kam for almost two years. During that time, I have needed a lot of dental work, including the removal of my remaining lower teeth and the provision of a full lower denture. The extractions were painless, and the denture immediately fitted perfectly with no adjustments required. I have the utmost confidence that any dental work advised by Kam will be carried out most professionally. She always explains exactly what the treatment will entail and can put one at ease whilst in the chair. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone seeking professional dental care from the Buckden Dental Clinic.”
“The hygienist today is the best one I have ever been to.
I just wanted to tell you the hygienist today is the best one I have ever been to. She explained what she was going to do before she started, and I didn’t get soaking wet like I did the last time I had it done with the water. Georgina was brilliant as always.”
“Firstly, I must congratulate the whole team at the Buckden Dental Clinic in these much-changed and challenging Coronavirus times.
Your procedures have been well organised to manage patients in a protected, safe environment. Explanations were clear from the first contact and were well thought out. The confidence gained overall with regard to the reduction of risk was reassuring. Simona’s examination was very well structured and thorough. The communication with her assistant was excellent, and they showed good team rapport. Good discussions about dental issues of potential concern were backed up by intraoral pictures and appropriate radiographs. I was happy and confident that the examination had been extremely professional. The whole set-up in Buckden is impressive, and you all should be proud of what you are achieving. It is a pleasure to visit such an excellent practice. Well done.
Kind regards”
“From Pain to Pleasure (well, almost!)
I was about eleven years old when sweets became unrationed and freely available. Suddenly, and for a few pence, my young generation could indulge at will, crunching on sherbet lemons, aniseed balls and toffee. There were two varieties of orange squash: Kiaora and Suncrush. We had to have them – all of them. Brush your teeth! Toothpaste was a flat tin of Gibbs dentifrice. A pink solid in which you dipped your brush. Used by the whole family, and swimming with water, it was not a convincing advertisement for dental hygiene.
You can guess what happened next. Suddenly, or so it seemed, there was decay and a toothache. Going to the dentist became a very unpleasant experience. Why? Well, it hurt, that’s why! No numbing injections, and the drill was operated by foot power. When it ran out of r.p.m, the drill would stick in the patient’s tooth. It was my first introduction to pain. As the years went by, so did the machinery improve, but my dread and fear were ingrained. Local anaesthetic improved the experience, and I joined the RAF, where dentists expected you to be fit dentally. If not, then drill and fill became obligatory. The better dentists left after a few years, having taken time to gain better qualifications and hence a more rewarding career.
I came back from the Falkland Islands in 1991. The dentist at RAF Mount Pleasant (no pun, I assure you), bless her, had filled a tooth which started to ache about 4000 miles from home. While on leave, my Mother suggested a visit to her dentist, Peter, who said very politely he would not have been proud to do ‘that filling.’ He was good; I trusted him; we became friends. Last appointment in the day and then across the road to the pub for a beer and a chat. I decided I wanted no more dental treatment from the RAF. I would pay for it. The military was furious. Years later, Peter retired. I spent a lot of time searching for a similar replacement practice, but somehow the one I thought might be most suitable for me was either too busy, too formal or too far to travel. And then I discovered Buckden Dental clinic. And here have I stayed. From my first appointment to date, Georgina and her staff put me at ease. To begin with, they carried out a few essential tasks and put right a few potential problems. Denplan clearly works for them as it does for me. If I have a problem, I know I will be treated as soon as possible.
Do I look forward to the next visit? Well, in a way, yes. You see, it’s the caring approach, the feeling that I am the only patient they have. Keep going, Georgina, you have a lovely team. Well done and thank you.”
“All staff have that same caring quality as Georgina, and it shows. It’s really reassuring to know you’re in good hands.
I have taken time to write this feedback, as I cannot praise Buckden Dental Practice enough for the dental care I have received there.
I have been to many dentists over the years and endured a broad spectrum of dentists, hygienists and receptionists. I have even experienced the dreaded school dentist, using gas and thick needles to administer anaesthesia. As you can guess, I became a pretty nervous patient. Not anymore, though.
This all changed when I joined Buckden Dental Practice about two years ago, and I can honestly say it’s an outstanding dental practice, where they put a lot of emphasis on modern techniques, have a preventative approach, and consider how their patients feel as well as providing excellent dental treatment. After a lot of looking around, I luckily joined the practice as a ‘Denplan’ patient because I wanted to make sure, after all my past bad experiences, that I found somewhere where they properly look after my teeth and, importantly, treat me as an individual and not just another patient to push through the system. You may think that NHS treatment is much cheaper than private care. Well, just look at how NHS prices have escalated nowadays. With the Denplan, I get so much more, including insurance and international care, even when on holiday. It’s so satisfying to know I can count on Buckden Dental Practice and the staff there.
The practice itself is located in a pleasant village location, not in a busy town. Parking is a dream, and it’s free. Somehow, it feels safer to leave your car parked there. The building itself is modern and all on one level for those who can’t negotiate stairs. The reception is always spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated in pastel colours. They also have a TV to take your mind off things. In fact, it’s not like a dentist’s waiting room at all. There are no clinical smells or apparatus about, just pleasant surroundings to set you at your ease.
Lisa at reception always greets you with a smile and is very welcoming, as are all the staff there, including hygienists, dental nurses and administration people. They are all so kind, respectful and helpful. This is a quality that seems to be rare nowadays, and I know that the owner of the practice insists upon this approach to all of the services they provide. I have seen for myself, whilst sitting in the waiting room, how staff interact and help young children, nervous patients and the elderly if they need help or just reassurance. Some people don’t want any fuss, of course, so staff just adjust their approach to meet that requirement, so everyone is welcome. The dental treatment rooms are again really nicely decorated with all dental equipment located behind you out of direct sight as far as possible. These rooms are decorated in pastel colours and are very modern.
My dentist is Georgina, who is also the owner of the practice. She is the Principal also. She is an outstanding dentist. Not only very professional and experienced, but they also take time and consider how you feel personally. That can be amazing, especially when you are a nervous patient like me. She takes time to set you at your ease, and then helps you through the procedure. It is fantastic support. I am so grateful to her for how she has helped me personally. All staff have that same caring quality as Georgina, and it shows. It’s really reassuring to know you’re in good hands. I no longer bother to go into towns such as Huntingdon or St Neots with all the delays, parking and driving problems. The easy pace of a modern village practice is far better and less stressful. Above all, it’s a much better dental experience. Especially now, since the A1 road has been upgraded. It’s now very quick to get to Buckden. All I can say to the people of Buckden and surrounding villages is, you are so lucky to have this little Gem right on your doorstep.”
“Eva is the consummate professional, and almost all of our appointments have had a pleasant social aspect.
Eva is the consummate professional, and almost all of our appointments have had a pleasant social aspect. I have been impressed to the extent that I have asked Jenny to provide costings for some modest cosmetic work that I have lived without for years, then Eva quietly pointed out that there were several options to improve matters.”
“The experience I have had at the Buckden Dental surgery has been more like visiting a friend than going for Invisalign treatment. I would wholeheartedly recommend the services from Buckden Dental.
I am writing a testimonial for the practice: Invisalign and treatment by Georgina. The experience I have received from Georgina has been first class. Since I was 14, I have always wanted straight teeth. I am now 35 and my dream has come true! Invisalign has given me my wish. Georgina is a fabulous dentist who makes you feel at ease as soon as you walk in the door. The experience I have had at the surgery has been more like visiting a friend than going for Invisalign treatment. I would wholeheartedly recommend the services from Buckden Dental. I went to have a filling over at the Buckden surgery (the first for many years). I was seen by a colleague of Georgina’s and was welcomed like a member of the family. Congratulations on the creation of such a friendly and welcoming business. I have already recommended new clients to you, and they are more than satisfied.”
“I would strongly recommend the Invisalign treatment to anyone who is thinking about having their teeth straightened, and would like to also say a thank you to the team at Buckden Dental Clinic for offering the treatment.
I have had the Invisalign braces for 2 years. I decided to have the braces as it has bothered me for some time that my teeth were quite far apart at the front and stuck out quite a lot. My lower teeth were not so much of a problem, but I was keen to straighten them out as well. I decided that I would like this to change, so I looked into the idea of having braces. When I spoke to Georgina about this, she notified me of a new brace coming out called Invisilign, which was a completely transparent brace that was changed every 2 weeks. The braces have to be removed when you eat, and you are required to brush your teeth after every time you eat. Before the beginning of the treatment, I was not very confident in my appearance, which is one of the reasons why I chose to have this treatment. I was particularly drawn to these braces due to their transparent nature and almost straight away noticed a change in my teeth’s appearance. This immediate change led to an almost instant increase in my self-confidence, which made me a lot happier. Over the past few years, my confidence has grown drastically, and I have noticed a substantial change in my appearance, with the gaps between my teeth closing dramatically, as well as the front teeth being pushed back more and decreasing in length. I have also noticed major changes in my lower teeth, which I am incredibly happy about. Many people whom I know have complimented me on the changes and cannot believe how much my appearance has changed in the last 2 years. People whom I have not seen since school are amazed at the changes, and this only makes me more confident and happy that I made the right decision in choosing the Invisiglin braces. I am also now into a routine of cleaning my teeth after every time I eat, which I will continue after the treatment has finished. Having to clean my teeth so often has led to many hilarious moments where work colleagues have come into the toilets to find me brushing my teeth, and people coming across tubes of toothpaste and toothbrushes in my car and in my drawers in my work desk!
I would like to say a thank you to the team at Buckden Dental for offering the treatment to me originally and then being so happy and complimentary to the changes every time I have attended a follow-up appointment since the beginning.”
“I just want to say a very big thank you to the entire reception team at Buckden Dental practice for the caring and professional manner in which they have dealt with me in the organisation of my numerous and urgent dental appointments over the past few weeks!
In particular, I would especially like to thank my dentist, Dr Aisling Donnelly (and her assistants), for all the advice given and the expertise she has exercised during all my dental treatment. Without her vigilance, professional knowledge, alertness, care and persistence, I would not have been referred to my hospital consultant, and a potentially serious problem might not have been discovered. A heartfelt thanks once again!”
“Georgina has proved to be a real professional over the years, up to date with dental advances, sensitive to our needs and a lovely person.
For most of our lives, it hasn’t been too much fun going to the dentist, mainly through a mixture of lack of confidence in the dentist concerned, mistakes made and pain which could have been avoided. In contrast to this, it’s like a breath of fresh air and a happy relief when we visit Huntingdon House, from the word go – starting with the welcoming and efficient people on reception, then the very competent hygienist and finally to the dentist we both see. Georgina has proved to be a real professional over the years, up to date with dental advances, sensitive to our needs and a lovely person.”
“From the moment one walks into the large, bright reception and is greeted by the cheerful reception staff, the patient is put at ease.
I have been a patient at the practice since it first opened and have seen many changes over the years. All I’m glad to say is for the better. If the aim of the practice is one of constant improvement, then from a patient’s eye view, this is happening. My treatment over the years has been carried out professionally, promptly and humanely, and I can unreservedly recommend Huntingdon House to a patient seeking a dental service.”
“The treatment I have received from you over the last few years has been exemplary.
Just a quick note to thank you for the excellent service that your practice provides. From the reception staff, always kind and helpful, to the hygienist, understanding and very thorough, and finally, you are always so professional and caring. I can honestly say that the treatment I have received from you over the last few years has been exemplary, the best I have ever had. In fact, I would go as far as to say it’s a pleasure to go to the dentist! And I am always confident that I will be receiving the very best up-to-date treatment that I can get anywhere. I would also like to thank you for the treatment afforded to my father; not everybody treats the aged as you do with respect and understanding. Once again, very many thanks to you and all your staff.”
“Dentists and staff are extremely professional, caring and helpful.
I have been a patient of the practice for 5 years since my previous practitioner moved away from St Neots. I have always found all the dentists and staff extremely professional, caring and helpful. As a recently retired General Medical Practitioner, I also both referred patients and received referrals from the practice. In both instances, the standard of communication was of the highest standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending the practice to both professional colleagues and other potential patients.”
