Effective plaque and stain removal for a brighter smile.

If you are looking to remove tooth staining caused by red wine, tea, coffee, curries or smoking, then our AirFlow® treatment could be just the answer you’ve been looking for.

Although this treatment is not a tooth whitening therapy, the AirFlow® will significantly improve tooth brightness and give you a noticeably sparkling, fresh, healthy mouth in an instant.

Airflow® is the most effective method for removing biofilm, better known as plaque. If the biofilm is not removed regularly, it will turn into calculus, which can only be removed by a dentist, hygienist or therapist.

Biofilm can cause tooth decay and gum disease, so removing this regularly is imperative to good oral health (and health in general).

What is Airflow® treatment?

AirFlow® polishing is a hygiene cleaning treatment that uses a mixture of air, jet water and fine powder to gently and effectively blast away stubborn stains such as tea, coffee and tobacco; and any plaque on your teeth, returning them to their natural whiteness. To get great results, some scaling may be required as well.

The tooth surface is not damaged during this cleaning procedure. This method is quick and painless, allowing for reaching and cleaning all those difficult-to-access areas, such as the tight spaces in between the teeth. Your teeth will look and feel refreshingly clean. This is also an ideal way to remove any underlying stains or scale before having a tooth whitening treatment.

How is Airflow® treatment performed?

The treatment lasts around 30 minutes. To start, your dental hygienist or therapist will disclose your teeth with a plaque tablet, which will show up any areas of plaque trapping. We’ll be able to show you and discuss in detail these areas and advise on how you can reach these areas at home when cleaning your teeth. Your dental therapist will then clean the teeth with the Airflow®. If needed, a scaler will be used to remove any calculus afterwards. Anaesthetic is generally not required, and the cleaning is pain-free. The only thing is that you may get a little wet!

What are the benefits of Airflow®?

The results are immediate – you’ll feel and see the difference as soon as the Airflow® treatment has been completed.
